Take back your movie-watching experience
Have you ever discovered a great little movie and wondered why these movies are so hard to find? Where are the movies like this that are for me? Think Call Me by Your Name, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, The Worst Person in the World, Rhymes for Young Ghouls, 32 Sounds. Just take a look through our podcast archive for a sense of the wide variety of films we discover and cover.
Seventh Row will help you discover great movies outside of the mainstream canon that might just hit you in the feels the way the next big Oscar hopeful won’t.
We’ll help you expand your cinematic horizons by introducing you to films from around the world that are by and about marginalized groups like women, LGBTQ+ people, and Indigenous people.
We recommend psychologically complex character-driven films, whether fiction or creative nonfiction. But you’ll also discover films that push the boundaries between experimental and narrative, fiction and nonfiction.
We’ll give you the tools to engage more deeply with the films through film theory (accessible even to the neophyte but never talking down to you) to analyze the movie and its political context.
As a Seventh Row Member, you’ll never be a lonely movie watcher again. You’ll also help us pay our expenses to keep running and keep so much of our content free.

What our listeners are saying
One of the few movie review podcasts that take interesting films and discuss them thoughtfully and in detail
For all the hundreds of movie review podcasts out there, there are surprisingly few that consistently take interesting films and discuss them thoughtfully and in detail. This is one of those few.
The hosts have somewhat different taste than I do, but that’s part of what I find useful. Many of the films they choose are ones that I liked but didn’t give the mental attention they deserved.
The discussions are especially strong in terms of psychological elements and characterization and in representing parts of the film world (e.g. Canadian and First Nations filmmakers) that don’t get enough critical attention.

Turned me on to movies that I would never have known about
Great podcast covering feminist and Canadian cinema, featuring some super interesting guests. I especially recommend the episode about Women in Horror cinema.
An interesting side effect of listening to this podcast is that I’ve been turned on to a series of movies that I would never have known about/considered watching before.

Champions great art and delves deep
Seventh Row discusses films they love with such unabashed enthusiasm; they champion great art and delve deep.
Most often, I go to Seventh Row because they will have beautifully articulated the feelings I have about a film. (‘Aha! THAT’S exactly what was bugging me about La La Land!’ ‘THAT’S why Call Me By Your Name felt like summer.’
